3rd Black Consolation Champs at State!!

3 Black finished the season strongly and proudly at State. They opened with a decisive 14-point win over Lakeville North, hopefully to set the tone for the rest of the tournament. Unfortunately, Stewartville, their next opponent and eventual champion, held on to win a 2-point heartbreaker over our girls. Undeterred, the Ponies took the court again, this time facing Chaska, and thrashed them with an 18-point victory. And with that, it was on to Consolation Championship! Andover came into the game after their own thrilling win over Eden Prairie. They were hoping for a little revenge after getting beat by Stillwater's Red team the day before. They should know by now to always bet on a Pony to beat a dog; 3 Black came out with the win and the consolation hardware. Congratulations, Ladies, on a great tournament played!

5th White 4th at State!

The girls played their hearts out this weekend and came away with a 4th place finish in State Tier 7.

Stillwater was ranked #1 in their tier going into State this weekend, so there was a lot of pressure for these girls to compete with some great teams.

Saturday saw the girls winning against Owatonna 21 to 11 and then a close win against Glencoe 19 to 15.

Sunday put them in contention for the Championship.  NO Pressure!

The first game on Sunday was an extremely physical match up vs Apple Valley.   The Apple Valley team came out swinging and the Stillwater girls stuck with the match up in a close loss 17 to 22.  The 3rd/4th place game was a good match up with Shakopee.  They outplayed Stillwater on offense and were able to secure 3rd place.

What a great year the 5th Grade White Team had.  These girls grew so much and worked hard all season to accomplish this 4th place finish.

4th Red Takes 2nd at State!!

What a fun way to end the season! 4th Red utilized defense and teamwork to fight their way through the bracket to the championship game. First to fall was Forest Lake. Stillwater was all over them, holding the Rangers to only 7 points enroute to their opening game win. In the second game, the Ponies took on Anoka, a team they faced back in January. Back then, the Tornadoes got the best of our team, but not this day. Stillwater hung on for a 2-point victory and a 2-0 start for the tournament.
The next day brought Andover and another tough defensive battle. The Ponies prevailed to move on to the state championship game against a feisty Cloquet team. The winning run ended here with 4th Red losing by 4 and taking second place. What a great tournament and season. Congratulations, ladies!!

4th Red Runners-up in Rochester!!

What a weekend! Red started out with a dominating win over Rochester Mayo, holding the Spartans to just 3 points. That was followed by another win, this time stopping Cambridge-Isanti with a 3-point victory. Going undefeated in pool play put them into the championship bracket and their first opponent was the Luther Knights. Down by 1 with 4 seconds to go, the Ponies ran the inbounds play and scored as time ran out, giving them the thrilling win and a place in the championship game. Alas, time ran out and our Ponies lost by 4, but what a ride to get there. Congratulations, Ladies, on another great weekend!

5th White Champs in White Bear!!!

White played their hearts out Saturday.  The first games found them facing familiar opponents Mounds View & Irondale.  They’ve played both teams before and won Saturdays games with a larger margin then the earlier season games.

The championship game brought a much tougher foe in MLK Minneapolis.  The score was back and forth most of the game until the last few minutes where our girls were able to take the lead and keep it. What a great way to end the regular season with a Championship headed into the State Tournament. Way to go, Ladies!!

5th Red Runners-Up in Woodbury!!

In the Woodbury tournament, it was a rollercoaster of emotions for Stillwater 5 Red. They kicked off the day with an impressive victory over Andover Gold, securing a tight 15-13 win. However, their second matchup against Osseo Maple Grove was a hard-fought battle that ended in a 14-12 loss. Determined to finish strong, Stillwater clinched third place by overpowering Cottage Grove with a final score of 26-18. A day filled with intense competition and standout performances by the entire team.  And to make things even better they were surprised with a visit from Varsity player Amy Thompson!
Congratulations, Ladies!

7th Black 3rd in Woodbury!

Our Ponies had a tough couple of games against some really good teams, but ended up winning when it mattered. Facing a similar team in Osseo-Maple Grove for the 3rd place game, Black dominated, eventually pulling out the win, 30-17, to take home 3rd place honors. Congratulations!

5th White Runners-Up in Woodbury!!

This tournament was all about REDEMPTION!
Stillwater started off the weekend playing Bloomington-Jefferson.  A rematch from 3 weeks prior where the girls were not prepared for a full court press the entire game.  They came prepared for this game and were ready for it.  It was a head-to-head match the entire game and very, very physical game.  Stillwater ended up winning in a tight match.  Redemption felt good!
The second game was against Osseo-Maple Grove and again, this was a close match.  It went into a 2-minute overtime and Stillwater was able to win by 2 points.  The championship game had the girls facing Orono who had a 16-2 record for the season.  The girls stayed close for the first half of the game, but in the end, Orono took the win.  This was the best the girls have played all season, and they are excited for their final tournament next week.

7th Red Second in Woodbury!!

Challenge.

7 Red kicked it up a notch in Woodbury by playing up a level...and held their own. They opened with a big win over the Mustangs of Mounds View, 36-21. Still playing well, their game against the Zephyrs of Mahtomedi came down to the very end with our girls losing by one. However, because of the seeding rules, their performance netted them a shot at the championship against Farmington. The Tigers, having gone 9-3 in their last 4 tournaments, proved to be the stronger team unfortunately and our Ponies fell, 22-41. However, 2nd place in their first A tournament is still quite the accomplishment. Great job, Ponies!!

4th Red Runners-Up at Woodbury!!

4th Red had a good weekend in Woodbury. Starting with the 3:00 game, they hung on against a pesky Two Rivers team, winning 19-14. Red next faced the Cougars of Lakeville South with a similar result, our Ponies pulling ahead for the 10-point victory. The championship game featured a familiar foe: Centennial. This is the third meeting between the two teams and unfortunately for Red, Centennial took this game as well. Despite the loss, it was a still a good weekend of play for 4 Red. Congratulations, Ladies!

5th Red Runners-Up in Forest Lake!!

In the Forest Lake Freeze Tournament, the Stillwater girls 5 red team showcased their skill and team effort, securing victories against Chisago Lakes (22-17) and Hermantown (18-14). Despite playing hard all game, they fell short in the championship game against Woodbury, ultimately claiming a well-earned second-place finish.

5th White Runners-Up in Forest Lake!!

After a disappointing weekend in Lakeville, the 5th grade girls came back with a vengeance at Forest Lake. The weekend started against the Centennial Cougars' B Team. The 8 AM game was a thriller, with our girls falling just short in OT, losing by 4.  Not to be deterred, White was ready to take on the Lightning of Eastview, coming out strong in this game and prevailing, 21 to 14. Now playing for 2nd place, their final game was also their biggest victory of the day, turning back the St. Anthony Huskies, 27 to 12.  Way to go girls!!

7th Red Takes 3rd in Lakeville!!

7 Red had a good showing in the Lakeville South Cougar Classic over the January 13-14 weekend. Red opened with a convincing win over host Lakeville South, 43-29. However, their next opponent proved much tougher as they lost to the Spartans of Rochester Mayo, 26-34.  Proving their resilience, the Ponies came back and defeated the Hornets of Edina in a close one, 33-29. Way to go ladies!

5th Red Consolation Champs in Lakeville!

During the Lakeville South Girls Cougar Classic, Stillwater Girls 5 Red faced challenges but emerged triumphant. Their journey began at 9:00 am against Lakeville North Black, resulting in a 21-13 loss. Undeterred, they bounced back against Cottage Grove, securing a convincing 27-9 victory. The team's resilience shone in the consolation championship game, where they clinched a hard-fought win against Rochester Lourdes with a score of 34-30, ultimately claiming the consolation bracket champion spot. A day filled with ups and downs, but Stillwater 5 Red displayed grit, determination, and teamwork.

4th Red Takes 3rd at Lakeville!

A little late and little short on details, but recognition is deserved. Congratulations on finishing strong for the fourth time this season!!

6th Red Champs in Elk River!!!

6th Red had a great showing this weekend, culminating in a nail-biter championship game. Our Ponies opened the tournament with an impressive 11-point win over the Mustangs of Mounds View, followed by an 8-point victory over the Osseo-Maple Grove Orioles. With a late tip-off, long day and determined opponent, Red had its hands full when they faced Monticello for the championship. A close battle came down to the wire, but our girls prevailed with a 1-point win to take home the trophy. Way to hang tough, ladies!

Stillwater Basketball Visits St. Thomas

Members of Stillwater Girls Traveling Basketball went to watch St. Thomas take on Sacramento State January 3rd. The Tommies handled the Hornets easily and afterward they got to meet and take a picture with the game's leading scorer and Stillwater alum Amber Scalia!

7th Red takes 3rd in Elk River!

Starting off hot, the Ponies overwhelmed the Mustangs of Mounds View in convincing fashion, 39-18. The Huskies of Andover proved to be much tougher as our girls battled into overtime, ultimately losing by a single point, 42-43. Instead of taking the loss to heart, however, Red became "Red Hot" again, trouncing Delano, 41-16 to take home 3rd place honors. Congratulations, Ladies!!

5th White Consolation Champs in Elk River!

Momentum. Maybe it was the holiday break, but White started off a bit rusty their first game, losing to defensively-minded Anoka,  6-21. If they couldn't do it with offense, maybe it was time to switch to defense. They got back into the swing of things in their second game by taking the momentum away from Irondale, as they battled back and ultimately winning, 16-8. Now they could feel it! In their final game, White took an early lead in their final game against the Cardinals of Alexandria and held on to win the consolation championship, 26-15.

What a great weekend in Elk River!

4th Red Takes 3rd at Elk River!

For the fourth time this season, Red has posted more wins than not, allowing them to take home some more hardware, this time in Elk River. Making a statement early, the Ponies came out fast and tough, dispatching the host Elks with a drubbing, 36-6. However, their next opponent proved to have a much tougher defense as the Tornados of Anoka, held them to just 10 points, getting by our girls, 10-18. But Red wasn't finished. Settling in for the 3rd place game, the Ponies jumped out in front of Bloomington and kept the pressure on as they reversed the outcome, this time pounding the Jaguars, 33-10. Congratulations, Red, on not giving up!

Tim Peper 200th Career Varsity Win

Congratulations to Tim Peper on achieving his 200th career victory! A big plus for Coach Peper: he got to have his girls play in the win. Fantastic achievement with more to come!
