Congrats to our 8th Grade Black Team for finishing in 2nd Place in the Osseo Maple Grove Tournament this past weekend.

The 8th Grade ladies had an impressive showing against the #1 and #2 teams in the State from last year by going 2-1 on the weekend. They opened the tournament against a known opponent in Edina, having played them in each of the past 3 seasons. The ladies where all business to open the season and beat Edina by an impressive score of 53-27. 

The 8th Grade ladies then found themselves matched up against a team that has been just out of reach for the ladies over the past 3 seasons in the Elk River Elks. The 8th Grade Elks finished last year's season as the #1 team in the State as a 7th Grade Group and beat our mighty Ponies in 3 separate match ups last season. Needless to says there was some pent up frustration and want to change that trend from last season, regardless if the Elks had some new faces and less faces than last season. Long story short the 8th Grade Ponies channeled their frustration and a 15 point deficit into a come from bind, shake that monkey off your back, victory over the Elks by a score of 43-41!!!!!! Yes!!!!!

Unfortunately, there was no time to relish in the victory because the #2 team in the State from last season Osseo Maple Grove was waiting for the Ponies 45 minutes later in the Championship Game. The Pony's brought their A game to the match up but fell just short of completing the sweep 38-44.   

Either way it was an amazing start to the season for our 8th Grade group. Awesome job ladies!!
